The ambitious framework focuses on affordability, reliability, innovation, and creating good-paying jobs

WASHINGTON – Today, Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), Ranking Member of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee’s Energy Subcommittee, is unveiling his vision for America’s energy future. At a time when energy costs are rising at twice the rate of inflation, Senator Gallego’s plan, “Fostering American Energy Innovation and Affordability,” takes an all-of-the-above approach with an eye to ensuring future investments are focused on the most affordable, reliable, and efficient forms of energy.

“Growing up poor, I know what it’s like to play ‘utility roulette’ – which bill will have to get skipped this month; what will we have to go without,” said Senator Gallego. “But whether you’re dealing with cold winters, hot summer, or just trying to keep the lights on, electricity is an absolute necessity.”

Senator Gallego’s plan is made up of five pillars:

  1. Emphasize Affordability
  2. Invest in Emerging Technology
  3. Prioritize Reliability
  4. Leave Nobody Behind
  5. Get Power Where It Needs to Go

“By building out inexpensive solar and wind, investing in emerging technologies like advanced nuclear and geothermal, and modernizing our grid, we can make energy affordable and reliable for Americans while at the same time staying competitive on the international stage and creating union jobs you can raise a family on,” the Senator continued. “The only thing standing in the way is the political will to get it done. Let’s get to work.”
