Northern Arizona's economy runs on its forests. Tourism, small businesses, communities. And right now, the Forest Service can't tell me when they'll finish reforestation after the White Sage and Dragon fires burned through 205,000 acres. Three to five years. That's their timeline. That's too long. On top of that, this administration is moving to roll back the roadless rule that protects 45 million acres of forest land from more ignition risk. I pushed them on it. I sat across from a woman whose husband was detained 12 days after their daughter was born. He's still in detention. Their daughter is 3 months old and has never spent a day with her father. This is what the Trump administration's war on DACA actually looks like — a police officer fired after 4 years of training, a biochemistry student arrested on her way to visit her deployed husband, a mechanical engineering student facing deportation after living here since he was 18 months old.
