The historic ROAD to Housing Act is a critical first step in addressing Arizona’s housing crisis
WASHINGTON – Last night, the Senate passed the ROAD to Housing Act as part of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The bipartisan legislation, which Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) helped shape as a member of the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, will boost the nation’s housing supply, improve housing affordability, and strengthen oversight and efficiency of federal housing programs and regulators.
“In recent years, Arizonans and people across the country have seen rents skyrocket and the dream of homeownership slip further and further out of reach. A crisis like this cannot be ignored, and I’m proud to be part of the bipartisan group of senators taking action,” said Senator Gallego. “By cutting red tape and making government part of the solution instead of the problem, the ROAD to Housing Act is a critical step in the right direction. I hope to see it soon pass the House and be signed into law.”
The FY 2026 NDAA now heads to the House of Representatives for consideration.
