WASHINGTON – Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) released the following statement after Republicans once again blocked legislation to fund the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and other important DHS functions while talks on ICE and CBP proceed:
“Republicans are holding TSA agents’ paychecks, disaster relief, and our national security hostage because they refuse to confront the reckless chaos inside the Department of Homeland Security under Stephen Miller’s direction.
“We put forward a straightforward funding bill today: pay TSA agents and fund critical services– everything except ICE and CBP while we continue to negotiate. Republicans blocked it. That tells you everything you need to know about their priorities.
“They’re willing to risk airport security, hours-long airport lines, protection against potential terrorist attacks, and disaster response just to keep fueling this administration’s mass deportation agenda, no matter the cost to the American people.”
