Gallego, Colleagues Call on Trump’s HUD to Immediately Halt Plans to Upend Key Homelessness Program, Which Would Force 200,000 People Back Onto the Streets

WASHINGTON — Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) and 41 Senate colleagues called on Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner to immediately halt reported plans to make drastic changes to the Continuum of Care (CoC) program, which could result in nearly 200,000 Americans being forced out of their housing and back into homelessness. Maricopa County stands to lose $32 million in federal aid and nearly 1,400 housing units under the policy changes.
