Internships

The Office of U.S. Senator Ruben Gallego offers internship opportunities for students and recent graduates interested in public service. Our internships provide valuable experience working in a Senate office, engaging with constituents, conducting research, and supporting office staff. We offer both Arizona-based internships in our Phoenix and Tucson offices and Washington, D.C.-based internships in our Capitol Hill office.

Arizona-Based Internships

Senator Gallego’s Arizona offices offer in-person internship opportunities in Phoenix and Tucson. Interns will gain firsthand experience with constituent services, legislative work, and community outreach.

Internship Details

  • Fall Term: May – August 2026
  • Location: Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona
  • Compensation: Interns will be compensated

How to Apply: To apply for an internship in our Arizona offices, please submit the following materials to az_internships@gallego.senate.gov by March 16, 2026 with the subject line: “Your Last Name, First Name – AZ Internship Application.”

  • Resume (maximum two pages)
  • Cover letter (maximum one page, indicating preferred office location: Phoenix or Tucson)
  • Writing sample (1-2 pages)
  • Three professional references

Washington, D.C.-Based Internships

Our D.C. office provides a hands-on experience in federal legislative operations. Interns will assist in constituent services, research, and office administration, gaining a deeper understanding of the legislative process.

Internship Details

  • Summer Term: May – August 2026
  • Location: Washington, D.C.
  • Compensation: Interns will be compensated

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Interest in government, policy, or public service
  • Arizona ties are encouraged but not required
