ARIZONA – Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) visited food banks across Arizona this week to meet with staff and volunteers, learn more about their operations, and thank them for their service to working families ahead of the holiday season.
On Monday, Senator Gallego visited the Santa Cruz Valley Food Pantry in Eloy and the St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank in Casa Grande. Today, he visited the Nourish Food Distribution Center in Phoenix.

“One of the things I’ve always asked is: Is demand up? What’s happening? Are you getting enough food? Are you getting enough support? And unfortunately, we’re hearing yes, that demand is up. They’re able to meet demand thanks to a lot of great support — corporate, nonprofit support, and volunteers. But it’s scary that there’s a lot of people who need these type of food boxes,” said Senator Gallego in Phoenix.

“One message I have for families who are struggling right now [is] ‘I’m sorry you’re struggling.’ I’ve been in your situation, and you will get through this, but don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it. There’s great organizations like Nourish,” said Senator Gallego in Phoenix. “Please go talk to them and see what else [they] can do. You deserve to be comfortable, and your family deserves to have a good Thanksgiving meal too, and that’s why we’re here.”
