“This is not just a policy debate. It’s about the lives and livelihoods of millions of people. It’s about our values as a nation and our economic prosperity and security.” — Senator Gallego
WASHINGTON – On Thursday, Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) joined business leaders to discuss bipartisan, practical immigration solutions, including the introduction of his 5 pillar framework, “Securing the Border and Fueling Economic Prosperity.”
The briefing, hosted by the American Business Immigration Coalition (ABIC) and Comité de 100 focused on the urgent need for bipartisan solutions that balance border security and economic growth.
“This proposal is a comprehensive approach that recognizes the realities of our broken system and seeks to fix it. This is not just a policy debate. It’s about the lives and livelihoods of millions of people. It’s about our values as a nation and our economic prosperity and security. Let’s work together to break this gridlock in Washington, and let’s show the nation that we can have secure borders and humane immigration systems,” said Senator Gallego. “Having ABIC and Comité de 100 have my back is extremely important because that’s a really good start to giving people a little more nuance.”

Since its release on Monday, Senator Gallego’s framework has received widespread support from business leaders, including those who joined him at Thursday’s event:
“With a secured border and 7.4 million open jobs, we welcome bipartisan workforce solutions offered by President Trump and Sen. Gallego to secure America’s workforce. Providing a legal process for our Dreamers, farm workers, hotel workers and long term workers to contribute fuels our shared prosperity,” said Rebecca Shi, CEO, American Business Immigration Coalition.
“Mass deportations alone will be an economic disaster, and will lose whatever support Republicans gained with Mexican American voters. This is why we welcome the thoughtful, balanced approach by Senator Gallego, and urge President Trump to meet him halfway,” said Massey Villareal, CEO and President of Precision Task Group, Inc. and Co-Chair, Comité de 100.
“Emerging and established businesses in Arizona rely on migrant labor in agriculture, construction, healthcare, hospitality, and many other industries. They’re the backbone of our economy and keep Arizona running. We believe we can do both — secure our border and our workforce,” said Monica Villalobos, CEO, Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. “We especially love Senator Gallego’s plan because it includes citizenship for Dreamers. In Arizona voters put tuition equity for Dreamers into our state constitution!”
