WASHINGTON – Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), a member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee and a Marine combat veteran, supported legislation to make certain the rate of disability compensation and other financial benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for veterans and military survivors keep pace with rising costs and inflation.
The Veterans’ Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment of 2025 (COLA) Act will increase certain VA benefits including disability compensation, clothing allowances and dependency and indemnity compensation for surviving spouses and children to reflect the reality of increases in the everyday cost of living.
“Our veterans put their lives on the line for this country, and we owe it to them to make sure their benefits actually cover the cost of living,” said Senator Gallego. “At a time when the cost of everything is going up, this bill is a commonsense way to make sure veterans aren’t left behind by inflation.”
